About Us

My name is Palesa and I’m the owner of Beginnings With Pulse, female owned company that makes handcrafted bath and body products from mostly vegetable based raw materials. My interest in using natural products on my skin began when I was first introduced to a vegetable soap. My husband and I went on holiday a few years ago and the cottage that we were staying in was using the vegetable soap for bathroom amenities for their clients. The soap caught my attention. I wanted to learn more as I’m from a family with very different skin types. Our skin types range from very dry skin (my dad and I) to eczema (my younger sister), my mother having oily skin, my brother normal to oily skin and my husband with oily skin. I knew we had to make some changes in what we had been using. I firstly enrolled in online class on soap making. After my first practical, I was hooked and hence the birth of Beginnings With Pulse…. I further enrolled with the Institute of Personal Care Science, an institution from Australia,  doing a distance learning with them and aquired my Certificate In Advanced Cosmetic Science to better understand how to formulate and to make sure that my products are stable and suitable to use topically. 

 

Our Vision

….We are currently operating from home, with a small work station at one of the corners in my kitchen. Ideally, we would like to minimize the use of synthetic chemicals on our skin that we are so accustomed to and opt to use skin friendly products that will nourish our skin and give a youthful feel as well as youthful look to the skin as it ages, to have supporting products that can be used when one has skin conditions such as eczema, etc and do away with a lot of synthetic chemical based products. We use “Cold Process Soap’ method to make most of our bar soaps and some of the ingredients include coconut oil, olive oils, shea butter, castor oil just to name a few….

 

Taking Care of Self

….We mostly use essential oils to scent our products. We use essential oils to scent our products for their aromatherapy properties.

Because we make handcrafted body and bath products, we make small batches of products at a time. Products like our soaps, need a minimum curing time of at least 4 weeks before we can sell them, so please bear with us.
